Manager for Hunger Relief

This position supports the Palm Beach County Hunger Relief Plan with project management, operational oversight and management and administrative services for individuals with food insecurity as part of a county-wide Collective Impact initiative. The position's primary objective is focused on coordinating all areas of the Hunger Relief Plan, including children, youth, seniors, families and others in the community, infrastructure, and SNAP outreach and hunger relief advocacy, working to resolve food insecurity in Palm Beach County.

The Manager for Hunger Relief works side by side with the Vice President for Hunger Relief and the Senior Director for Hunger Relief, working closely with community partners and stakeholders to develop and implement a variety of initiatives, partnerships, programs, and special events. The Hunger Relief Manager works with community leaders in business, government, education, non-profit, and faith-based organizations as well as volunteer citizens to expand relationships to attain maximum community involvement in assuring needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Meeting Facilitation & Coordination
  • Provide support for work groups, committees, and subcommittees, including developing agendas and taking meeting minutes, as needed
  • Manage, create, and prepare committee meeting materials for participants and group leaders
  • Participate on relevant community meetings, coalitions, task forces, and committees
  • Develop the appropriate documents, applications, and other related materials




  • Data and Research
    • Identify census tracts and create GIS interactive maps to identify areas, neighborhoods, and ZIP codes that have high poverty rates and are food insecure
    • Provide technical assistance, and research policies and best practices, for various Hunger Relief efforts, as requested
  • Stay current on issues and statistics relevant to hunger relief policy, federal feeding programs, and best practices at the local, state, and national level
  • Project Management & Coordination
    • Oversee, supervise, and develop planned and executed initiatives, partnerships, programs, and events in conjunction with the Hunger Relief team
  • Establish and track goals, strategies, and outcomes
  • Work with Hunger Relief work groups, subcommittees, community leaders, community partners, and residents to identify and establish targets, strategies, goals, and tactics
  • Grants
    • Research grant opportunities for Hunger Relief and discuss opportunities with external partners as appropriate
  • Provide direction to subcontracted Hunger Relief partners to ensure a comprehensive, coordinated effort in delivering services and quality assurance
  • Work with Senior Director for Hunger Relief and Community Impact team to formulate, implement, and evaluate programs to assess outcomes and overall effectiveness; collect qualitative/quantitative data on all funded programs, and determine program implementation efficiency, in line with UWPBC division processes
  • Communication
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication among community partners, social service agencies, faith-based organizations, business, education institutions, donors, and other key community stakeholders around the development and implementation of partnership initiatives and/or specific strategies
  • Coordinate activities and communication with appropriate organizations, (e.g., local partners, state, county, local commissions, networks, councils, etc.) as they relate to the work of the Hunger Relief Plan and focus areas
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to communicate the impact of UWPBC's Hunger Relief investments to corporate and individual donors as well as the broader community
  • Assist as needed with volunteer projects managed through the UWPBC Volunteer Center
  • Assist, as assigned by senior management, with the organization's disaster response efforts
  • Perform other duties as opportunities are presented and/or assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • GIS Certificate, preferred
  • Bi- or Tri-lingual English / Spanish/ Portuguese, English/ Spanish or English / Haitian-Creole preferred
  • Experience in a busy office environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs and experience in a complex database environment
  • 3-5 years of experience in grant writing and/or administration, preferred
  • Successful record of obtaining grants and/or working within a team
